To make sure it was random I dealt 2 playing cards at a time (J=11, Q=12, K=whatever I said). If she got it right, she kept the cards – she got it wrong, I got them & recycled them into the deck until she had all the cards. The 2nd time around she only got 5 seconds to answer. At first she started crying & saying it was going to be too hard with the time limit – her typical mental breakdown. But, “mean Mommy” persisted & began to deal out the cards. Luckily, the first few hands were super easy, so the “fun factor” kicked in – especially after I told her a moderately difficult one as wrong, but I was the one who was wrong! That REALLY kicked up the fun factor for her. She didn’t want to stop to take a shower, so I had to promise her one more round after she was done. It’s been a long time since she had fun with homework.
